Latest Developments
Spring 2026
Phase 2 of LDP is underway! This includes two elements:
First, a new page of the website that highlights individual Student Projects. These are projects that delve more deeply into some of the issues most relevant to our students’ lives, and they reflect an emphasis on questions about justice in conjunction with lived experiences of everyday legality.
Second, the LWS Program at JJAY created a new Experiential Learning course that can serve to facilitate targeted group research within the Legal Disruption Project. At the request of students, plans are underway to run this course with a more specific focus in Spring 2027. The more specific focus will be developed in Fall 2026 with a small group of students working in collaboration with a Law and Society faculty member. Stay tuned!
Spring 2025
In Spring 2025, some of the students in the Law and Society capstone course chose to pursue research in conjunction with the Legal Disruption Project. Unlike the focus group research, this research was designed and implemented by individual students about specific topics they knew about from their own lives.
Spring 2024
After nearly five years of running focus groups, LDP took a step back to look more closely at the data collected. Three Research Assistants worked with a faculty member to code existing data and create a new website.
